Natural Ways of Dealing with Anxiety Attacks

Anyone who suffers with one of the several different forms of anxiety attacks will tell you that it is a life altering experience that can easily leave you feeling trapped within your worst nightmares if they don’t start dealing with anxiety.  While feeling of fear are common for anyone to experience, due to a over production of certain brain chemicals those people who suffer from anxiety attacks are often times overwhelmed by irrational fear and they oftentimes overreact to situations that are not all that serious or dire  to other individuals.

The term “anxiety” or suffering from “anxiety attacks” is just a generalized term that actually covers several different forms of this disorder.  They Include:

1.    Panic Attacks:  A more severe form of anxiety attacks.  Generally you experience overwhelming dread and confusion.  You also become very uncomfortable in places that are not very familiar or you feel that are not your “safe zones”.  This can lead to agoraphobia.

2.    Agoraphobia:  A uncontrollable fear of either leaving a area you feel is safe or feeling that when you go out into public you will be negatively judged or possibly humiliated, especially if you either experience a panic attack or if the people present find out you suffer from panic attacks.

3.    PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome is caused from a life threatening experience.  People with this form of anxiety often suffer with nightmares and sometimes even flashbacks.

4.    Phobias:  Uncontrollable fear of specific situations of things.  You will most times go to almost any length to avoid the situation or object that causes the fear thinking that helps.  In reality it only makes the fear worse.

5.    OCD or Obsessive Compulsive Behavior: The feeling something bad will happen to you if you do not do something in a certain order or so many times at a time.  This can include anything from counting, hand washing and even some forms of hoarding.

6.    GAD or Generalized Anxiety Disorder:  These are people who are classified as “worry warts” They constantly think about “What if…” scenarios no matter how unreasonable.

Ok, so you know about the different types of anxiety, so how can you be dealing with anxiety like this?  There are a few different methods that ca n be used to get permanent relief that do not rely on prescribed medications.

First off, there are plenty of herbal supplements that help when dealing with anxiety.  One of the more popular ones is St John’s Wart.  There are other herbal supplements as well that can help, you simply need to find out which one is right for you.

Second, a well balanced diet can help to re-balance many of the bodies systems.  Make sure you go over what you currently eat and drink and see if there are changes that can be made.  While it’s a good place to start when dealing with anxiety, it’s also just a good idea to do.

Third, regular exercise can have a significant impact on your overall health including your mental health.  Exercise has been known for years to cause the brain to produce certain chemicals that improve happiness and relaxation.  Not to mention you will have a much better self image.

Lastly, the use of different relaxation methods would be a great way of dealing with anxiety.  Some people start using prayer.  Others will begin practicing meditation.  Whatever it is you use, you will be able to not only get better control of your emotions, but you would be able to relieve stress as well.

Another thing that will help you in dealing with anxiety is doing some self exploration and find out what it is that is causing the uncomfortable feelings in the first place.  Sometimes you may get an anxiety attack for no real reason… but in truth there is something small and insignificant that you don’t realize that’s making you uncomfortable.  Once you find out what it is, don’t go out of your way to avoid it.  It may make you feel uncomfortable, but you will have to take time and slowly desensitized yourself to it.

One of the most important things to realize is that an anxiety or panic attack will not kill you, no matter how bad you feel.  And don’t try and fight the attack, simply go with the feelings.  It will be much easier to deal with if you simply “go with the flow.”
